Texas Barber and Cosmetology Educators (TBCE) are committed to advancing the quality and accountability of professional licensure education across the state. This annual report presents a comprehensive analysis of state board written and practical exam outcomes for barbering and cosmetology students. By examining year-over-year testing data, we aim to identify trends, highlight areas of instructional strength, and uncover opportunities for targeted support and curriculum improvement. Our goal is to equip educators, administrators, and policymakers with actionable insights that strengthen student success and uphold industry standards in Texas.

Texas Cosmetology Operator

This report comprehensively analyzes written licensure exam results for Texas barbering and cosmetology candidates tested between June 1, 2024, and May 31, 2025. Data was compiled from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) and PSI Services, the official testing provider for state licensure exams. The report includes performance data for first-time, repeat testers, and all testers combined, across all available testing languages.

Published by the Texas Barber and Cosmetology Educators (TBCE), this report highlights key trends in exam performance, supports instructional improvement, and informs program development statewide. By analyzing pass rates and participation levels across demographic and testing categories, this report helps educators, administrators, and policymakers ensure equitable access to licensure and maintain the high standards of Texas’s cosmetology and barbering professions.
